Stef/Steph/Steff (to list just a few spellings) was first wooed into picking up a guitar after seeing
evergreen boogie guvnors Status Quo appear on Top Of The
Pops sometime in 1988.
Like the mighty Quo, Stef still knows only three chords (don't embarrass him
by asking what they are), although was bullied by the band into learning a fourth
when they were asked to learn 'The Thong Song' for Neil's 50th a few years
back.
He met Craig in 1993, shortly after auditioning as the fifth member of
one of Craig's barber shop quartets. Their yearning for rock 'n' roll
led to to the formation of beat combo Redline, which morphed into Breakpoint, then
Blitz. Stef retired early from the
scene in 1997 having grown weary of the blood, sweat & tears of Blitz's
never ending tour of clubland.
It was not the end however, and the two ald buggers reunited in 2002 to form
Catch 22, where they remain, locked until their dying days in
bitter battles over song selection, wind etiquette, keyboard volume and
backline (amp) placement.
